Ford Men’s Evandro Stars in Steven Klein Directed Video by Damien Neva

Ford Men’s Evandro stars in a new music video “Alejandro” directed by photographer Steven Klein. We are big fans of Steven’s work…who can forget the Crystal Renn shoot he did for Vogue Paris? We can’t. As for the music video, we’re all chuffed for Evandro, but please don’t ask this blog editor to watch the video with the sound up. I never was a fan of Ace of Base and that’s not about to change. As an alternative soundtrack to be played over the video I recommend another song of equal length, “East Broadway,” by noise rockers Unsane from their 2007 album Visqueen.

Unsane’s “East Broadway” is available for purchase at the iTunes Store.

You do realize that Lady Gaga is the client in this music video project, right? And this is the official agency blog, not a personal blog. So you’re not just sharing your music preference by saying mute the sound and just watch the video, you’re dissing the client your model worked for. I am sure you don’t always love all the designer’s clothes your model wears in an ad campaign, but you don’t share your opinion about them in an official agency blog.

Homotography,

but you don’t share your opinion about them in an official agency blog.

And if the opinion squared with yours would you still be upset enough to leave the above comment? Of course not. Your ire was piqued by a difference of opinion, not by opinion in general. The same would not be true were the article to have lavished praise for the pop song. If it is validation for your taste in, ahem, music that you are seeking, then I suggest you look elsewhere. There are plenty of blogs, magazines, and TV shows that share your view on this mediocre soundtrack to an otherwise accomplished visual by the excellent Steven Klein.

As the editor the Ford Models Blog I appreciate your readership and difference of opinion. The agency has no opinion of the above pop song, but as an editor I am free to weigh in on matters as I deem appropriate. Any editor worth his/her salt would do the same.

Hi Damien. Honestly, it’s not about music taste at all. If not for your reply to my comment, your name wouldn’t be attached to that post text, it’s simply circulated as a ‘Ford models blog post’. An editor of a ‘different kind of blog’ is welcome to criticize a song, because the artist is not the client of the project his model worked on, which is what the blog post is about. I guess our difference of opinion is about that point, I think it’s very wrong to diss a client on an official agency blog, you think it’s ok. It’s not about the music taste and sharing it, I would have the same response if you were attacking the clothes of a designer in an ad campaign you were blogging.

To class Miss Germanotta with creative designers of fashion houses would be an injustice to both the creative designers and herself. She’s a pop star and a very successful one at that, but undeserving of the sort of reverence I think you might be suggesting her songs ought to be given. We will have to agree to disagree on her songs and along with that the editorial voice I bring to bear on what essentially is a fluff piece for Ford Men’s Evandro Soldati.

Again, I appreciate your response and readership.

Regards,

Damien
