AJ Abualrub for Raoul F/W 10 by Damien Neva

Ford Men’s AJ Abualrub features in the Raoul F/W 10 campaign photographed by Marcelo Krasilic. According to an 8 February 2010 article in WWD Raoul is based in Singapore and owned by FJ Benjamin, “a retail, licensing and distribution partner for 20 luxury fashion and lifestyle brands in Asia and Australia, including Guess, Céline and Banana Republic.” With an eye on breaking out of Singapore market and establishing a presence in the West Raoul has debuted a 20-piece line by American designer Tom Scott in February at Drive-In Studios in Manhattan, landed prime retail spaces at Harrods in London and Tea Rose in Milan, and most recently of course fashioned a stylish fall campaign for itself featuring our very own 6’1½” (187 cm) AJ modding about in a glass house clearly inspired by the late Philip Johnson‘s New Canaan, Connecticut residence. For a newish brand such as Raoul’s looking to cement its place in the world of fashion the motivation for a modernist styled campaign is understandable. How better to appear as if a label’s been around for decades than go for the full martini?
