There are certainly worse ways to spend $40 than buying the latest issue of Grey. The “hard” cover shell that houses the three hundred odd pages of the biannual published in Italy under the aegis of editor in chief and fashion director Valentina Ilardi Martin has been staring the Ford Models Blog in the eyes for a few weeks. Mock sticker shock aside — we buy magazines regardless of price — we hadn’t deigned to dole out the dollars until somewhat belatedly realizing the feature of Ford’s Anne Sophie Monrad in an editorial photographed by Sophie Delaporte and styled by fashion editor Monika Kroptisch. Titled “Friday 11.06.10” the editorial takes its visual cues from the world of flight replete with references to fan blades, birds, and winged air force regalia. Styling, however is mostly maudlin military with Anne Sophie wearing various woolen jackets, coats, dresses, etc by Dries Van Noten, Jean Paul Gaultier, Miu Miu, Maison Martin Margiela, and Gucci amongst others. As ever Anne Sophie carries the mood from start to finish and comes out looking anything but grey.
