Regular readers of this page have long since heard the old saw about primacy of print media over its digital counterpart, the interweb. The interweb just like WikiLeaks has a right to exist and all the power to them! But, like proper journalists, this page attempts to best ape their practices to provide you, dear reader, a context befitting of the talent that created the stories we admire week in, week out. With that out of the way, we would like to turn our attention to a story that has been bubbling on the interweb since last month, but only last week reached the shores of the New World in print form. Yes, we’re talking about Ford’s Rose Cordero who features in Wonderland November / December 2010 in an editorial by photographers Driu and Tiago and fashion editor Grace Cobb.

Adhering to the emoticon form of the issue’s fashion editorials the story, titled “:P”, the story adopts a similar styling tack deployed in Valerija Kelava‘s story in Vogue China Nov. 2010 by photographer Lachlan Bailey and fashion editor Anne Christensen. Colorful, patterned garments are combined to achieve a broadly pre-Columbian flair. Rose’s first look, for example, is comprised of a top and trousers by Prada, dress by Diane von Furstenburg, bangles by Chanel, wood and metal cuff by Lanvin, and patent belt by Louis Vuitton. Overall the editorial’s exceptional photography and styling are matched in kind only by its Dominican model, Rose Cordero, who couldn’t possibly look any stronger than she does in her twelve looks. Which is an elaborate way of saying saying the print story was well worth the wait. 😛

I like how she’s growing as a model and learning to express more. Hope she lands more and better work.
