Neuer Auftritt für Denim. Crystal Renn präsentiert den Klassiker von seiner eleganten Seite. — Vogue Deutsch
Magazine editorials can be a tiresome chore. The perennial challenge of having to imagine anew the recurring themes of the seasonal fashion calendar sets magazine editors on a Groundhog Day-like loop exactly one year in length. Throw in the added handicap of market particulars such as doing a denim story in Germany — Germans know zheir Denim — and a career switch to the actuarial sciences will start to look more and more appealing. That is but one of the headaches suffered by magazine editors, which makes the Crystal Renn denim editorial in Vogue Deutsch Februar 2011 by photographers Claudia Knoepfel & Stefan Indelkofer and fashion editor Nikola Knels all the more impressive. Titled “Out of the Blue” the story sees Crystal imbue denim with a distinctive classiness not readily associated with the fabric. For her first look Crystal wears a denim shirt by Gant, sleeveless shirt with butterfly brooch by Lanvin, jeans by Not Your Daughter’s, and wristwatch and ring by Grisogono. She closes out the story wearing a Michael Kors trench, classic denim shirt by Fay over a brown polo shirt by Salvatore Ferragamo, and a stretch denim pencil skirt by Prada. The lesson of all this? Crystal Renn proves herself indispensable to yet another Condé Nast editorial.
