Delfine Bafort | Vogue Deutsch März 2011 by Damien Neva

As the show season rumbles to a conclusion (two more days, mind), Magazine Mountain grows higher and higher. By the time the last model walks off the runway of Elie Saab Wednesday evening in Paris the precipice of this periodical peak will be nearly out of reach. Before that truly happens I’d like to at least drag loose a rock from the icy heights in the form of a Vogue Deutsch editorial featuring Ford’s Delfine Bafort photographed by Miguel Reveriego. Titled “Elvis Lebt” or Elvis Lives auf Deutsch the story makes ample use rock & roll styling by Kate Mossman to breathe new life some into the Teddy boy look of a bygone era. To that end the story opens (below second shot) with Delfine wearing a sheath dress, wide belt and leather bra by Comme Des Garçons. These days no editorial (also see Purple Spring / Summer 2011 by Claude Lévêque) worth its salt that calls upon the peroxide blonde Belgian doesn’t also picture her in a look or two by Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière such as the below fifth shot. All told the story rocks through a series of studio and exterior shots and serves as a firm reminder that although the King is alleged to be dead, his spirit lives on and none more so than through our very own Delfine Bafort.
