The last time this page saw a story with artist Clunie Reid, phographer Mel Bles, and fashion editor Vanessa Reid in the credits was when they did their piss-on-a-blank-canvas best to turn Jil Sander+, Diesel Black Gold, Aquascutum, and ck one Fragrance model Valerija Kelava into a nearly unrecognizable glob of oil paint and cut paper. That Pop editorial, however wasn’t a one-off, as they’ve surfaced again for a story for their brother magazine, Arena Homme +, that features Ford Men’s Aiden Andrews on the cover. The story titled “Does It Match” sees an artfully mustached and wigged Aiden wearing a suit by Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, shirt by Paul Smith, tie by Dries Van Noten, and pocket scarf by Charvet. Four of the eight possible covers feature in large print a derivation of the first name Stephen as in Stephen Morris of New Order and Joy Division. “Stevie” is written on Aiden’s cover along with the song title of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Carousel classic “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” which has long been the anthem of Liverpool Football Club. “Ian” would perhaps have been a more appropriate designation as Aiden’s done up to look more like Liverpool legend, Ian Rush, than club’s current captain, Steven Gerrard. Dissonance, however is likely the point with this cover as with most works by Clunie Reid. Thankfully, however Aiden Andrews is on hand to insure that we don’t in fact walk alone.
