Paolo Anchisi | Sleek Spring 2011 by Damien Neva

Editor in chief Annika von Taube‘s German-published quarterly Sleek is no stranger to cultural pastiche. In general it is not that German fashion magazines struggle for currency — 032c of Berlin for that matter is a veritable IMF that guards against such exchange rate instability — but publishing a bilingual Deutsch und Englisch edition is the de facto spoonful of Zucker for an international readership to swallow der Medizin [who actually reads magazines anyway? – Ed.]. This bifurcated approach to the published word also can ably accommodate divergent themes and none more so than the “Paris & Texas” premise of Sleek N°29. A variation on this artistic binary is at the heart of an editorial that features Ford Men’s Paolo Anchisi photographed by Markus Pritzi titled “Dallas France.” Set in Paris, the Isabelle Thiry-styled story dresses Paolo in various looks that channel the Lone Star State through the use of denim, star & stripes, and the odd cowboy hat. Paolo’s first look, a shirt and denim long sleeve with V-neck by Prada and hat by Stetson, sets the tone for the story that follows and culminates with him wearing a denim jacket with leather sleeves by Olivier Borde, sweatshirt by COS, trousers by Paul & Joe, and vintage cowboy boots. In between, however Paolo Anchisi reminds readers that the quickest route between Dallas and France naturally runs through his smoldering good looks on the pages of a bilingual German-English quarterly.
