Jacob Dekat | Vogue Italia Maggio 2011 by Damien Neva

A month ago Ford Men’s Jacob Dekat featured as the Model of the Week for 18 April 2011 fresh on the heels of his editorial debut in the pages of Numéro Homme by Greg Kadel. In his Model of the Week feature, the 21-year-old Colombian-born photographer and DJ mentioned having shot with Steven Meisel for Vogue Italia, the May 2011 issue of which is now on newsstands in the City. With copy in hand the twenty-eight page Karl Templer-styled story is something to behold. In it Jacob below can be seen on the far right of the frame, reclined in an office chair, wearing denim shorts (shorts di denim) by either Levi’s or Diesel, unsure which as the caption is rather imprecise notwithstanding it being written in Italian. For all that this storied piece of real estate on 23 St. has witnessed over the years, the editorial avoids recreating its truly notorious acts and keeps it decidedly PG-13. Messy quarters, “unkempt” hair, and more summer looks than at which you can waggle a Sid Vicious pocket knife is pretty much how this editorial rolls. And thankfully Jacob Dekat is on hand to make sure the 12 PM check out is flagrantly disregarded.
