André, Francisco & Rafael | Made in Brazil Magazine 3 by Damien Neva

Brazil is huge. The Portuguese-speaking nation commands the seventh largest economy in the world and in the Western Hemisphere is second only to the credit-leveraged nation supersized between México and Canada. With a GDP annual growth rate of 5% there is every indication Brazil will become one of a handful of the largest economies in the world in the coming years. In cultural terms Brazil’s influence most prominently extends to world football — 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™ much? — and, yes, of course fashion. The other week Models.com ran an exclusive preview of the much anticipated Made in Brazil Magazine 3 and earlier this week the oversize biannual celebration of all things Brazilian (so long as they’re attractive, toned, muscular male bodies) hit Manhattan newsstands.

This brawny volume tastefully celebrates Brazil’s reproductive economy without getting bogged down with perfunctory niceties like editor notes, articles no one reads, or even captions (styling details are listed en masse at the issue’s end). The photo shoot titles are derived from the models they feature as if to explode any notion of fantasy that isn’t central to the boys from Brazil. The concept is brilliant in its directness and purity of vision, which is thoroughly evidenced in the issue’s final editorial by photographer Stewart Shining and stylist Gregory Wein that features Ford Men’s André Ziehe, Francisco Lachowkski, and Rafael Lazzini. The sprawling story romps through the studio for the most part and serves ups a tasty coda with Chico in Times Square wearing a 59Fifty New Era black cap, cotton tuxedo shirt and wool ivory tuxedo with black sait shawl lapel by Devon Scott. At an eye watering $40 you could be forgiven for merely window shopping this limited edition, individually numbered issue of 1000, but at the same time you’d also be deprived of the fantasy of holding in your hands so many Brazilians. Like I said at the beginning of this piece, Brazil is huge.
