In recent seasons the world of Marc by Marc Jacobs has typically been accessed through the lens of photographer Juergen Teller. Readers will recall a couple seasons ago that it was Ford Men’s Ian O’Brien who turned out for the ten-time CFDA Fashion Award winner’s diffusion line’s fall / winter campaign photographed by the German master. Campaigns, however are only one point of entry for any successful line. Lookbooks are another; they provide a no-nonsense, exhaustive catalogue of an entire line. The latest Marc by Marc Jacobs lookbook for the Resort 2012 line in fact features Ford Men’s Paolo Anchisi. And yet, there is even a third and possibly most crucial point of access to a collection outside of simply strolling into its shop on high street. I am talking about the interweb! Yes, that series of tubes that enables users to not only post compromising pictures from the weekend, but also purchase practically anything their credit card limit will sanction. Yesterday I was invited by the generous people at Marc Jacobs to sit in on one of these so-called “dot com” shoots for their Resort 2012 line. On the day Ford Men Direct’s Troy Cannata was on hand to wear several hundred Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 looks that will ultimately reside on MarcJacobs.com for purchase. Troy gave the very wearable (how often can this actually be claimed in fashion?) ready-to-wear clothing ensembles an undeniable relatibility that will no doubt appeal to online consumers in that final moment before they click “add to bag” and ultimately purchase. Ford Women’s Allaire Heisig, a Marc by Marc Jacobs favorite, has also participated in such “dot com” for the line. The previous day Ford’s Yenny Garcia was photographed for the women’s looks. If Troy looks familiar, then it could be because his twin brother Travis Cannata has been doing the rounds for Mugler S/S 2012.
Until the Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2012 ready-to-wear collection is available for purchase on MarcJacobs.com, then please enjoy below the exclusive behind-the-scenes video and photographs.
